so, I've been climbing up twenty flights of stairs, every day, while at work. Yesterday, I became curious as to how many feet up I have climbed this week. So, today I measured the height of a few stairs (all of them were 18 centimetres) and multiplied that by how many stairs were in each flight (14) then multiplied that by one hundred to get the total. *trumpet blare* I have managed to climb a total of 25,200 centimetres (25.2 meters). A metric to Imperial converter I found through google says that is the equivalent of 826.771 feet.
I then checked out how high a mountain has to be to be a mountain and not just a hill. Wikipedia says it has to be over 10,000 feet. So, I've climbed a little over 40% up a mountain. And since I've climbed an average of twenty flights of stairs every day this year, this means that I have climbed four mountains since the beginning of the year. Or a bit more than 40,000 feet. Unless my math is wrong and it could very well be as math was never my best subject. But the thought that I've climbed at least one mountain in height since the beginning of the year makes me feel very accomplished.
